Random Thursdays

This weeks Random Thursday's topic is All Things Christmas. So I thought I would post pictures of what I got in my holiday swap :) from  over at Linny's Vault. I was paired up with Nichole. These are the things I received in the box she sent.   I loved everything, cant wait to use the napkins on Christmas eve and day during meals. The wooden tree is so pretty along with the nutcracker. The ornaments are a bit heavy but they will last for years and will go up every year here after.

And its now Christmas in this house with out a Gingerbread house :). took us an hour to put this thing together and about a day to eat it all lol. Since my husband travels our tree is always up by Black Friday along with other decorations. Hoping to go look at some lights this weekend and sing (poorly i might add) some carols while we are driving through someones neighborhood. Christmas the only time you can drive around like your casing the joint and not get pulled over lol.

Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation

Just a quick review of Revlons newest foundation.

The shade I picked up is Shell (130), whats nice about this product is they have shades with a pink undertone and a yellow undertone. My shade yes a yellow undertone, its very creamy and very light weight. Its got a light to medium coverage but not full. It is nearly naked after all :). I have applied this with my hands and a brush (sigma f80). I found that with my hands it had more of a tinted moisturizer finish, but with a brush it did cover some of my freckles. This foundation didn't last a whole day for me, but I haven't found one that does. but I got a good works day worth. Its also at a good price point of Ten dollars at my CVS. If you are looking for something that is light and don't need a lot of coverage then this would be a good one to try.

Coffee Talk

Joining a new link up for today!

Coffee talk from the lovely The Spunky Poser (go check out her blog)
This week is all about your partner :) and since tomorrow is out 4 year wedding anniversiry I thought this would be fun.

1. How did you meet your partner?

Well we met the day I moved in, I handed him a box of my shoes and said HI!. I had just driven 22 hours from DC to Oklahoma city to be with my (his roommate) high school sweetheart......

2. How did you feel about your partner when you first met?

I thought he was a very attractive guy but a bit to much of the tough guy form me. Thought he would be that great drinking buddy to have in case fights start.

3. When was your first date?

Our first actual date was actually a few years into dating, He took me downtown OKC to a lovely New Orleans theme place, we spent so much money on food and drinks but it was so nice.

4. Where do you see y'all in five years?

Still getting on each others nerves, I mean loving on lol,  and hopefully with at least one more child.

5. Here is us
This is from over the summer, we were in Kansas City's Power and Light district for his big 30 party

November Favorites

I know everyone does these, and normally I cant ever come up with stuff I really liked or I come up with way to much lol. But I thought I would try and I actually only came up with four things :) yea go me!!!!!

These are the items I have been using over and over again the past month!
1. Burts Bee's hand salve, with the crazy up and down temps GA has been having this stuff has saved my hands. I found mine at CVS for around 6$. I love putting it on my hands at night since it can be a bit greasy for me.
2. OPI My Very First Knockwurst has been worn often this month. Its the perfect nude color for my skin tone. I dont look dead with it on. It also doesn't chip as fast as some of my my other polishes.
3. Urban Decay's The Fun Pallete, I have been trying to ad some color into my eye looks and the purples and teal have work so well this month.
4. Neutrogena healthy skin foundation in nude 40. With the weather change my  skin as been acting funny and this foundation has really help calm and cover my issues.

What have your favorites this past month been? Anything new I should try or you want to try?

CoverGirl BlastLipstick Bzzagnt Campaign

The colors I received (from left to right):
Vixen, a bright pink and shimmery pink
Stunner, bright coral and golden orange
Minx, chocolate brown and a golden hue

Ill be honest, I have purchase one of these blastlipsticks in the past and was completely disappointed in it. It was dry and very hard to blend and just didn't work well with my lips. Now that being said these there that I was sent form BzzAgent are the total opposite.  Very creamy and blend amazingly. now the coral and brown are not colors I would pick for my skin tone but that pink I can work with.

They have no scent and no taste, both a plus in my book. They also have some staying power tried out the coral color on my lips just to see if I would like it and it stayed on all day even after trying to make it fade. The color was still a bit right for me I think. I also like that you can wear eight on their own or in many combinations. I do recommend using a lip brush if you are going to high light with the shimmery color its just.
 easier.

Just as a reminder I am a member of the BzzAgent a great website, go and sign up and you can also join in on great campaigns such as this. They are who asked me to do this campaign and sent me the lipsticks.

My CVS Find

Wet and Wild has new eight pan eye shadows. The sign did say limited edition too. I have head many rave about the other eight pan ones but never picked on up before. Well I saw these at my CVS today and thought I would give one a try, I mean for 4.99 I really couldn't pass up the deal. They had a few to choose but these bright colors on this pallete really caught my eye and the fact they were matte. The others had a lot of sparkle(chunks of glitter) and I worried about ending up with that all over my face and not just my eyes.

I can say I am totally impressed with the pigmentation in this, and how lovely the colors are. They are not chalky at all and that black oh my is it black :). And the colors really do show ..well that one tan high light is a bit light but still the rest at AMAZING :).

Keep and eye of for an eye look using these :) so excited when I find good product at a really good price!!!!!!!!

November is Mens Health month

I know this is mainly a Makeup/fashion blogs stuff  but I just want to reach out to you guys with men in your life. You know we all have them in our life brothers sons fathers husbands boyfriends and friends. There is a cancer out there that is taking many men's lives and we must help get the word out.

Two years ago this month my husband had just finished his fourth and last round of chemo for Testicular Cancer stage two. We started our fight in May when he found a lump and was having some pain. After one CT scan the urologist was suggesting surgery to remover the testicle  and referring us to an oncologist for further test and treatment. In June he had his surgery that all went well. But with a further PET scan we got the news that the cancer had already spread to lympnoids in his belly. Treatment then was four rounds of chemo with three different types of chemo. We got the all clear that following month and are now still getting the all clear at every doctor visit since.

A good place to start when looking for info is the Testicular Cancer Awareness Facebook page this will lead you to some great people and some great information  Tell your husbands sons brothers and fathers to be doing their monthly checks and if anything seems wrong or out of place to then go to the doctor. EARLY detection is the key to saving lives. If you can this month spread the word and donate to charities to help bring the cancer to the for front. Lets make this awareness just as big as breast cancer awareness is

Lipstick Love

Three new colors I pick up these last few weeks. Im really trying to branch out from my regular nude lip gloss look and get into some actual lipsticks.

First one is the most bold I have ever gone. Well I take that back I'm pretty sure back in my dance days when I was a child Im sure during recitals I wore a color as red as this. The other two are my normal pink shades I love but with out the lip gloss shine.

Starting from the the left
Maybelline 645 Red Revival
Maybelline 135 Make Me Pink
Rimmel 006 Pink Blush

Cant wait to put some looks together using these colors (especially the red) for you guys in future post.

Can you ever have enough?

MASCARA!!!!

I mean really I have way to many. These are the new ones that I have pick up or got as samples. Just wanted to share my thoughts on them with you guys.

Rimmel Scandaleyes volume Flash Mascara
The brush is a traditional one on the larger side. The formula is on the dryer side. And yes it does give lots of volume with out flaky off later.

Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express "cat eyes"
Very very tiny curved brush and a very wet formulation. Didn't really do much for my lashes at all. Certainly no "Cat Eye".

Covergirl Lash Blast Luxe Mega Volume
Rubber brush on the larger size just like all the other Lash Blast mascara's. Also a dryer formulation. But there are sparkles in this mascara, its interesting to say the least. I don't see them on my lashes really but on the brush they are there. Also gives lots of volume.

Smash Box Full Exposure
Larger Traditional Brush with a really dry formulation. Wasn't to impressed with this mascara at all. Couldnt even notice a change in my lashes even with putting a few coats on my lashes.

Clinque High Impacted Mascara
Medium sized brush, wet formula. Do like this even with it having a wet formula. Its my every day mascara just enough volume and separation  The scent however is a bit strong(no other mascara listed has a scent)./

This or That Beauty Blog Tag

Saw this tag on Makeup Obsessed Mom's blog and I just had to do it :) Just a few questions and answers  How fun ?! I also tag everyone who reads my blog to go ahead and do so too.

1. Blush or Bronzer?

Both, I really love to contour my cheeks so a bronzer is a must but at the same time I also love a good rosy cheek too. I do tend to use more bronzer in the summer months then int he winter.

2. Lipgloss or Lipstick?

Lipgloss is always in my purse and on my lips. I do own lipsticks but I find myself really use lipgloss more often.

3.Matte or Sparkle Eye Shadow?

I tend to lean more towards the sparkle or sheen, an all matte eye on my just feels and looks so flat.

4. Gel, Liquid, Cream or Pencil Eyeliner?

Pencil and only because I have the most experience with it and feel the most comfortable  I do have some gel liner and I have been practicing. Really want to get that winged out look perfected.

5. Foundation or Concealer?

Depends if its summer then I use more concealer and less foundation it gets so hot here in Atlanta I just like to spot treat. In the winter Foundation all the way

6. Liquid or Powder Foundation?

Liquid in fact I just got a new one Clinque Even Better Foundation and I'm in love with it. I have tried the powders and they just show of my dry patches more.

7. Neutral or Statement eyes?

Being a Mom I tend to do a more neutral eye don't need to be scaring the other parents at Preschool drop off lol.

8. Pressed or Loose Eye Shadow?

Pressed and only because I don't own any loose but I would love to own some.

9. Brushes, Sponges or Fingers?

Brushes I feel the most confident with my makeup application when I use my brushes

Sorry for the lack of  pictures this blog.
Next up on the blog Makeup to go with the Date Night outfit

A Target Find

Willa is a new line at my Target that I have been eyeing every time I wonder through the makeup section. Well I finally decided to just pick one thing up the lip balm in the pot. I must say I love this. It very moisturizing, smells amazing a very light strawberry scent. Only thing I don't like is it doesn't taste all that great but its not harsh or anything. This product is also Paraben and sulfate free and not tested on animals. Also made in the USA :) another plus! Cant wait to try more from this line in the future.

Makeup for a Cause

A fellow beauty blogger that I follow had mentioned on her twitter about starting a donation bin for makeup to be given to Breast cancer patients. Now having a grandmother pass away because of this type of cancer and having a husband who had  Testicular Cancer,  I knew I had to jump in on this.  For all the full details go here Beauty by Krystal's blog. She is heading up this wonderful idea.

My grandmothers story:
My Grandmother on her wedding day

She didn't catch her cancer early, had no symptoms till one day she had a rash she couldn't get rid of. After many test at the doctors they told her she had stage four breast cancer and they wanted to try chemo. Given her age and her unwillingness to get a second opinion she didn't have many option. Options that I really believe would have saver her life, but whats in the past stays in the past. I can only live on for her memory. She only lived about six months longer chemo and the cancer was just to much for her already frail body. She was taken way to early from her daughter and grandchildren. So many more stories were left to be heard from her.

In doing things like this I hope her memory continues on. I do feel her every day and in everything I do. I know she would be happy with how my life has turned out and she would be madly in love with my husband and son. So please check out the information page listed above and get to donating. If you cant donate to this do something for any cancer charity. Help in any way you can even just sending get well cards to a cancer patient is helpful.

Its that time again :) Random Thursday link up. I have really enjoyed doing this every Thursday. This really helps me keep in the blogging mood :) and have blogged more I believe because of it. Ok enough of that on to the Topic.

Favorite Fell Good Movies. This is a hard one because I have so many movies that I love even though I dont get to the theater that often anymore. Netflix is my best friend now. Pictures are from IDMB, love that website just spend 20 minets watching trailers for new movies will searching for these two movies.

1. Love Actually
I could watch this Christmas movie year round. It has a few story lines in the plot but the little boy's story line is my favorite

2. Bridget Jones Diary
I cant get enough of this its such a down to earth real girl story. Its just so funny and about a normal girl.  The book is amazing too :)

I know only two but I seem to have brain farted on the rest lol Im pretty sure this list could be so much longer and go on for days but these two are my top two.

Maybelline Touch of Light Review

With highlighting all the craze now I really got ext excited to see this at the drugstore. I love a good highlight on the cheek either alone or with blush also. Got home all excited and I tore right into this bottle lol swatched it on my hand and rub it in. The color was a bit scary to me since I am so fair and this is so GOLD. But I thought I will make this work. I wanted to make it work. Sadly though for my skin tone it doesnt (sad face) it just ends up looking like a gold grease slick on my face. I tried a few ways of applying this also with my fingers a spunge and a brush, always ended in the same result. The only other way I havent tried and I will is to just mix it in with my foundation when I want a brighter bronzery look.

Fall Wreath

So this post is not beauty related at all, but I had a request to post how I make my wreaths. So here we go!

What you will need (all items I got at Michael's Craft store)

Grapevine Wreath
Mod Podge
Wooden letter
Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Flowers
Spiders (optional)
Scrapbook Paper
Pencil and Scissors

First you will need to trace out your letter on the paper. Doesnt have to be excact  you will want a little bit of over lap. Once you have it all traced out using a sponge brush paint a thin layer of Mod Podge onto the wood and lay down the paper.  Using a stiff card to move out all air bubbles and let dry. Once dry add another thin coat on to the surface and also let dry.

Arrange the Flowers in the way you want them first. Play around with them there is no right or wrong way of doing this. I Prefer to have them bunch together on the opposite side I want my letter to go.   Once you have the all figured out turn on your hot glue gun and get to gluing . Whats nice about doing it this way is they flowers will stay put but can be removed when you want to change  things ups. I have reused my grapevine wreath a few times now.

Once again have fun with this, there is no right or wrong way.  The options are limitless, you can add ribbons or bows. My son added two Halloween spiders to ours they just have claw clips so they are just hanging on to the flowers.
